American Skin Association Announces New Members of the Board Dr. Kenneth Beer, Notable Dermatologist, Niels M. Johnsen of International Shipholding Corporation, and Deborah A. Jorn of Valeant Pharmaceuticals International, Inc.

New York, NY – Howard P. Milstein, Chairman of American Skin Association (ASA), announced today that Dr. Kenneth Beer, notable dermatologist, Niels M. Johnsen of International Shipholding Corporation, and Deborah A. Jorn of Valeant Pharmaceuticals International, Inc. have become members of ASA's Board of Directors.

Dr. Kenneth Beer, who is board certified in both dermatology and dermatopathology, brings his experience as both a caring clinician and successful entrepreneur to ASA's Board. Dr. Beer is deeply committed to his patients and also serves as a mentor, training dermatologists and plastic surgeons on best practices. "I am excited to work with my fellow board members at ASA and continue their efforts to raise public awareness of the importance of sun safety and skin health," said Dr. Beer.

Mr. Milstein stated that, "Dr. Beer is a wonderful addition to our board. The commitment he has already shown is appreciated and especially welcome, as his experience and support are invaluable to carrying out our mission."

Niels Johnsen joins the legacy of his mother, Millicent Mercer Johnsen, who served on ASA's Board of Directors for over fifteen years and was instrumental in developing ASA's Education Council. Mr. Johnsen, Chairman and CEO of International Shipholding Corporation, continues his families' philanthropic endeavors by joining ASA's Board. Mr. Johnsen said, "I look forward to following in my mother's footsteps as a member of the ASA Board of the Directors. ASA's commitment to research and education are exceptional and I am proud to become a member of their Board."

Milstein also commented, stating, "We are delighted to have Niels Johnsen join us as one of our newest board members and continue Millicent's great work."

Deborah A. Jorn, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Medical Dermatology at Valeant Pharmaceuticals International, Inc., also joins ASA's Board and continues the work of former board member, Valeant Chairman and CEO, J. Michael Pearson. Ms. Jorn will also serve on ASA's Education Council, where she will be instrumental in the development of its Marketing Committee.

"Deb Jorn of Valeant brings expertise in strategic planning and marketing experience to the Board. We look forward to working with her as we continue to think strategically about the year ahead" said Howard Milstein of the new addition. "I am honored to join the board of American Skin Association," said Deb Jorn.
